How to find your saved reels on Instagram in 2026 (and why you can't search them)

Instagram lets you save reels with a tap. It won’t let you find them again. If you’ve ever gone back to your Saved folder looking for “that pasta recipe with the crispy garlic” and given up after scrolling for two minutes, this guide is for you.

The short answer

To find your saved reels on Instagram in 2026:

1. Open Instagram and tap your profile.
2. Tap the ☰ hamburger menu in the top right.
3. Tap Saved.
4. Tap All Posts, then switch to the Reels tab.

That’s where your saved reels live. Newest at the top, oldest at the bottom, no sort options, no search box.

Why you can’t search inside your saved reels

The Saved folder is a bookmark list, not a database. Instagram doesn’t transcribe the audio, doesn’t read the captions burned into the video, and doesn’t index what’s in the reel. It only knows: user X tapped the bookmark icon on reel Y at time Z. So a search box would have nothing to search.

You can search inside a Collection — sort of. Collections match on the creator’s name and the visible part of the caption, and only within one Collection at a time. If the answer you’re looking for was in the audio (as it usually is for recipes, travel tips, and tutorials), Instagram will never find it.

How to actually find an old saved reel on Instagram

Ordered from “least effort” to “most reliable”:

1. Scroll and skim. If you saved it in the last few days, this works. Otherwise, budget an hour and prepare to give up.
2. Filter by Collection. If you had the discipline to file the reel into a Collection when you saved it, open that Collection and skim. Most people never do this consistently.
3. Remember the creator. If you can, search the creator’s profile directly — their reels are still there in reverse-chronological order.
4. Search the DM you sent yourself. If you shared the reel to your own DMs, it’s still there — DMs are searchable (by caption / creator handle, not audio).
5. Use a third-party tool that indexes the content. This is the only reliable answer for a saved folder of any real size. See below.
