How to get the full recipe from an Instagram reel

Recipe reels are designed to make you hungry, not to be cooked from. Quantities flash on screen for half a second, the method is narrated once over a trending sound, and the caption says “full recipe in bio” — which, by the time you look, links to something else. Here’s how to get a recipe you can actually shop and cook from.

Step 1: look in the caption and pinned comment

Tap “more” on the caption. Many creators paste the whole recipe there, often below the hashtags. If not, check the pinned comment — creators increasingly put the recipe there because captions have a length limit.

Step 2: follow “recipe in bio” (carefully)

“Link in bio” means the recipe is on the creator’s website or a link page. Open their profile, tap the link, and look for the recipe by name. Two catches: the link usually shows the newest recipe, and some creators put the full recipe behind a newsletter signup or a paid app.

Step 3: get the recipe from the video itself

When the recipe isn’t written anywhere, it’s still in the reel — split between what’s said and what’s shown. You can pause and write it down, or let a tool do it:

1. Copy the reel link (Share → Copy link).
2. Paste it into the box at the top of this page — the recipe from a reel tool — and press Analyze.

Step 4: check the details that matter

Before you cook, glance back at the reel for:

• Units. “1 cup” vs “100 g” — creators from different countries mix them.
• Oven settings. Fan vs conventional, °C vs °F.
• Anything only shown, never said — the pinch of salt added in a quick cut.

How to save Instagram recipes so you actually cook them

Instagram’s Saved folder and Collections keep the video, not the recipe. Three months later you have 300 saved recipe reels, no search, and no idea which one had the chickpea curry. Options, from least to most organized:

• Screenshots or a notes app. Works until you have more than twenty.
• A recipe app where you paste each recipe by hand. Tidy, but every recipe is manual work.
